A fine example of a 5" Heavy Duty...This one letters as being shipped to the Garnett Kansas Police Department on June 24, 1932, having been ordered through WS Darley Company...The S&WHF letter and as much provenance as I can locate is included here...My reading suggests that a lot of organized criminals, armed with high power guns and armor plating were roaming the midwest at this time, and even the small town law enforcement entities were arming themselves accordingly...This gun no doubt has its own stories to tell, and I am hopeful someone who sees this article can add to what is already known...S&WHF letter, factory invoice, police order & other provenance included...
