Another of my personal carry guns...Somewhere in its century old history, one of its caretakers replaced the original 6" barrel with a postwar 2" barrel having a ramped 1/8" front sight...I added the antique Sambar stag grips and the grip adapter was a donation from a forum friend...I only wish the gun's original Call gold bead front sight could have made the transition also...It's now in my regular carry rotation where it's likely to stay as long as I can carry...And yes, those are Hornady XTP's you see...
A Deep Dive request to historian Mike Helms produced some additional correspondence which, although may not have related directly with this gun, did reveal the attention to detail some S&W clients were willing to go in order to fit their guns to their own needs...
