#286 - S&W M&P Target

This was one of my personal carry guns until fear of bumping and damaging it caused me to retire it in favor of another old timer that was accustomed to compliments on its looks...Somewhere in its century old history, one of its caretakers replaced the original 6" barrel with a postwar 2" barrel having a ramped 1/8" front sight...I added the antique Sambar stag grips and the grip adapter was a donation from a forum friend...I only wish the gun's original Call gold bead front sight could have made the transition also...It was in my EDC rotation, but it reached retirement age at 99, and was replaced by a newcomer...And yes, those are Hornady XTP's you see...

A Deep Dive request to historian Mike Helms produced some additional correspondence which, although may not have related directly with this gun, did reveal the attention to detail some S&W clients were willing to go in order to fit their guns to their own needs...
