This .32 caliber Hand Ejector is another in a long and storied line of Hand Ejectors beginning with the Model of 1896...This one uses the improved I-frame identified by its coil hammer spring and shorter cylinder window...This was changed to the J-frame in coming years...It also has a flat latch cylinder release not normally seen on these until the change to model number identification...The simulated ivory grips are aftermarket and also fit the round butt J-frames...In reading SCSW5 the engineering change order deleting the 4th frame screw in the upper sideplate on the improved I-frames was implemented with frame number 640980, so this may be the 7th Hand Ejector assembled after that change...Until i can get a S&WHF letter on this one, Mike Helms was kind enough to furnish the three page invoice written for this shipment...It shipped with many other guns to Shapleigh Hardware in St. Louis Missouri on June 25, 1956...It is one of ten listed at the bottom of the third invoice page...I'll post pictures after it emerges from Dunkin Gunwash...
