This little cutie was liberated from the grasp of a friend who didn't realize what he had...It was manufactured during the Korean War when when brass and nickel supplies were diverted to war production...The choices of materials for the stock medallions for S&W production was stainless steel or plastic...Plastic was the cheaper choice, so guess which one S&W chose for the majority of their production...But there were a number of stock medallions made of stainless steel, and this survivor is one of them!...
All numbers match including the R/H stock panel which verifies this gun is 100% original...There are no rework marks...I'll update the article with any provenance that surfaces...
